PRAGUE. THE BEST TRIP EVER! April 29-May 2

Okay, not many of you may know that I went to Prague alone for a weekend. It was probably the best decision ever. I survived spending the night in the Madrid airport and boarded a plane to Brussels Friday morning. Luckily I had a window seat so I got to pass out as soon as I sat down. I landed in Brussels and wandered around, struggling to find a cheap lunch. That cheap lunch ended up being a small coffee and a muffin from Starbucks..... 7 euros my ass. I did get to watch the Royal Wedding in the airport though! From Brussels, I was off to Prague. I landed around 6pm and began looking for the bus to take me to the city.....Which I didn't find. But I did get a bus to the metro and then took the metro to the Old Town Square - which was right by my hostel.

The first thing I saw! The astronomical clock tower! Gorgeous!

Easter market decorations!

I found my hostel after getting lost for a few minutes - damn maps, can't read czech too well! And put my stuff down to wander around at the Easter markets in the square. I had kolbasa and beer for dinner with that trdlnk dough dessert thing afterwards. When I got back to the hostel, I met my roommates.....4 guys from Britain here for a stag do (aka bachelor's party type thing).  But they were really nice so I wasn't worried. I went to sleep early that night because I was so exhausted from traveling. AND THEN I WAS WOKEN UP AT 3AM BY 4 DRUNK BRITISH GUYS AND COULDNT SLEEP UNTIL 530. It was actually funny though. Hilarious! I even learned how to have a bit of a Yorkshire accent. They said they would take me out for beers the next night for being such a good sport after being woken up...which is fine with me.

Saturday!

So it turns out I did know people in Prague - a girl from one of my classes was there with her friends. I met up with them on Saturday and we explored the city. While I waited, I watched about 6 weddings

I ate myself to death with gnocchi. Yum

At the top of the clock tower! Such a pretty view!

The John Lennon wall!

We went to the castle....

THE MOST BEAUTIFUL CATHEDRAL EVER!

Ate some goulash for dinner....

Got those beers promised to me by these lovely lads. The one on the left is the one getting married. HAHA. We paraded him around the square for about twenty minutes.

We went back so the bachelor could change and met 2 more roommates - two guys from Australia. So then we all went out to the music club across the street...which was more like a bar with music. It was underground so they kept calling it the Dungeon hahah.

Sunday!

After a fun night and not nearly enough sleep, I woke up to meet my friend again.....which ended up being delayed for 2 hours because they had a long night as well. So I went exploring again....

My first bagel since I left the States....It was delicious!

We finally found each other and went to see the Jewish quarter! The only thing that made me mad was the fact you had to buy a ticket for the 6 things - you couldn't just buy a ticket for the cemetery..hmph.

This picture is illegal. You couldn't take pictures inside any of the synagogues. Oops.

After we went to see each place, I left the group to go see what else was remaining before I left to go back to Spain.

The Powder Tower (I think!)

I went back to the hostel to try to take a nap....instead I met the 3 Argentinians and 1 French guy that took the bed of the British. And then a girl walks in! American! Finally, I wasn't alone! As it turns out, she's studying in Granada and knows a girl I graduated high school with! She was traveling alone too so I showed her around a little bit and we got dinner before going back to go out with the 2 Aussie boys. Hilarious. I love meeting so many people!

After about....2 hours of sleep, I got up to go to the airport on Monday morning. Biggest struggle ever but I made it. Before I left for the metro, I did manage to take this lovely picture:

SO PRETTY!

After about 15 hours of traveling, I made it back home to Granada! Prague was such a pretty city - I just wished I had more time there because I definitely wanted to take a trip to see Terezin. Oh well, next time!

Gibraltar during Semana Santa!

During Semana Santa, my family and I took a trip to Gibraltar to see the monkeys and the WW2 tunnels.

The view of the rock!

SUCH CUTE MONKEYS/APES!

The lighthouse at Europa Point

One of the tunnels!

I had fish and chips for lunch (YESSSS!) and then after lunch, we got caught in the WORST DOWNPOUR EVER. We were soaked in 5 minutes! Time for a chilly bus ride home :(

But the trip was still great!

April 9: Bullfight!

I had the opportunity to go to a bullfight last Saturday and tickets were only 12 euro, so I went with my roommate Rebecca. It definitely was not what I was expecting.

The first thing that happened was the presentation of the toreros, picadores, banderilleros, etc.

The rest of the bullfight was too difficult to put into words. It wasn't what you would expect and I don't think I would go to another one. I'm sorry this post is so late!
